[In the end, there wasn't anything Death could do about this event. But there's something she can do now, so she picks up the phone.]

Hi everyone, it's Death. If you need someone to talk to... I'm really good at listening.

Life is a scary, confusing experience, but nobody ever seems to care much about that.

The bereaved tend to have that advantage as well. Do you mean you minister to the dead?

What is it that people do when they're dead, in your world?

Very sorry for being late, I was away! Feel free to ignore.

Another judgment-based system, then? Who is it who does the judging?

[There is a pause for a moment or two.]

You and Grandfather may be better matched than I thought. It works that way on the Disc as well. You get exactly what you believe you deserve. Whether it's an eternity feasting in Valhalla or one burning in hell as judged by a jealous god.

It seems to me that people are very good at punishing themselves needlessly, all in all.

Harps and fluffy clouds aren't for everybody, I suppose. Honestly, the theology here isn't very sensible.

I'm a fan of the way things work on the Disc. There is no justice. There's only Grandfather.
